Summary: A case study approach used in a longitudinal qualitative study. The adolescent, her family and the health professionals from both the hospital and the community settings were interviewed over a period of six months. Information was also obtained from medical and nursing notes, a research diary and from clinical supervision records. Analysis of the data was through pattern matching themes that emerged from the different data sources.
