Opening with a short introductory chapter on the historical aspects of diabetes and endocrinology, this title goes on to offer a chapter on the latest scientific advances in the field, relating them directly to changes in clinical practice. The textbook is then divided into two sections: section one deals with diabetes, section two with endocrinology.The emphasis throughout is on the clinical aspects of the speciality, with basic science being included only where clinically relevant. The authors include many diagnostic and therapeutic protocols or ""care maps"" in the form of flow charts, thereby providing essential information in a format that can be very easily referred to and which relates directly to the needs of the inexperienced trainee or the non-specialist.
